(Regulations on nationality marks on foreign vehicles)

Laid down by the Norwegian Directorate of Public Roads on 16 September 1999 pursuant to Section 13 of the Regulation of 28 March 1967 no. 9350 on the use of foreign motor vehicles in Norway and on special registration of motor vehicles for temporary use, cf. Section 20 of the Act of 18 June 1965 no. 4 on road traffic (Road Traffic Act), cf. the EEA Agreement Annex XIII no. 24b (Regulation (EC) no. 2411/98).

Foreign-registered vehicles must, when used in Norway, be equipped with

  • a nationality mark with nationality letter(s) at the back of the vehicle in accor­dance with the Vienna Convention of 8 November 1968, Article 37 and Annex 3, and/or
  • the same nationality letters on vehicles from an EU country indicated on the left side of the registration plate in accordance with .

of 3 November 1998 applies as Norwegian regulation with the adaptations that follow from the EEA Agreement, Annex XIII, Protocol I and the rest of the agreement.

This Regulation enter into force immediately.
